Dorothy J. Ehlers 86, of Elkhart passed away on July 12, 2010 at Elkhart General Hospital. She was born to Clarence and Pearl (Jame) Bennitt on July 1, 1924 in Buchanan, Mich. In December of 2001 she married Claus Ehlers in Elkhart, Ind. Dorothy was a member of the American Legion in Edwardsburg, Mich; Women of the Moose in Elkhart; she aslo was a hairdresser up until her 80's. Survivors include her husband, daughters Peggy (Larry) Hiatt of Elkhart, Connie (Paul) Ford of Arcadia, Fla; step-daughters Donna (Joseph) Rice of Indianapolis, Ind., Ramona (Jim) Ehlers-Calhoon of Elkhart; step-son Michael (Sandi) Ehlers of Elkhart, Ind; sister Kathleen Sults of Okla; 23 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Betty Ann Lindsey; half brother Donald Bennitt. A meomorial service will be held on July 23, 2010 at 6 p.m. with James Young officiating the service. Memorials can be made to a charity of one's choice
